A Psalm of Lamentaion

God, looking back, I guess
I’d have to say that I’ve ignored you
For awhile,
And I have not resisted temptation.
Temptation of the flesh.
I have tried to fight it on my own,
But I failed.
Again and again, I ignored you,
And tried to fight my own battles,
Only to fall time and time again.
Now, as I lie defeated and hopeless,
I understand that
I can’t do this alone.
I am not all powerful,
And I am not all knowing;
You are, however, and
Even now I cannot begin to
Comprehend Your omnipotence.
Please help me to defeat myself.
I can’t go on living like this,
I know now that it can destroy me
If I don’t repent and start anew.
In truth, I was afraid to say this,
But through the words of a dynamic preacher,
You have given me the courage
To admit my great fault and
To finally overpower temptation
With Your help.
Thank you God for saving my life.

Religion IV - What are my beliefs and values, and relevence to today?

I believe in the virtue of responsibility. Even though these days I'm not very responsible, I still feel that it is a very important virtue to learn in life, especially now with things like college coming up. Also, it is likely that responsibility may have well been able to avert historical events such as the Great Depression and today's economic crisis.

After high school, no one can slack off anymore, because more likely than not, you are going to be on your own, and before leaving home, you would have to be prepared, right? As a result, you might spend time over the years learning various things like grocery shopping and driving, as well as good study habits, so you can survive on your own. In other words, you are learning to be responsible, productive, and diligent.

One other thing: being responsible creates trust, which in itself is very rewarding. For example, let's say that you have started a part-time job at a store. You work very hard, and you are honest to everyone, and, as time goes on, your employer may come to trust you enough to promote you to, say, co-manager. There would be no other reason for a promotion like that to occur unless the employer has deemed the employee responsible enough to handle the job.

Unfortunately, not everyone is responsible, and in a few cases, has caused problems on a global scale. In the 1920s and today, the respective economic crisis that occurred or is occurring could have been averted if people had been a little more responsible in the contributing markets (the Bull Market of the Twenties and the real estate market of today). What I mean is that during the Twenties, people relied too much on the stock market, and on top of that, made it harder for Britain and France to pay for their debts from the first World War by raising tariffs. As a result, a great depression in the world economy eventually occurred. Similarly, in recent years, banks have been making too many loans to people who are not able to pay them off, creating foreclosures, eventually causing today’s recession.

The virtue of responsibility has a great impact on nearly all our lives. Applying it can have a positive impact while neglecting it can be harmful. No matter what happens, even if you try and avoid it, it will be faced eventually. Responsibility can’t be avoided.

Religion IV - What is My Life Philosophy?

What is my life philosophy? I guess that it's basically to be the best person I can be. I try to do that by being calm, being polite, keeping the Sabbath and trying to be a better person in general. However, it's probably going to be a little hard to explain, since I haven't really thought about this before.

I'm usually a calm person, and I'm glad I'm that way for the most part. Typically, as a result, I'm also a quiet person, saying nothing more than stuff like "yes" and "no", and so on. Despite that, if I'm excited about something, or if I'm able to think of something to say, I can be very sociable. Despite that, I tend to get carried away with trivia on random subjects.

Also, I try to be as polite as I can, because I don't want anybody being upset or offended, especially if it's my fault. It could happen anyway, since there are times when I don't think about what I'm going to say, or I just get carried away. However, I don't think that happens on a regular basis, but I could be wrong, though. So I basically try to avoid trouble as much as possible.

Ever since I started working on my Algebra summer course, I began to appreciate keeping the Sabbath more than I ever had, because I didn't have to work on the occasionally frustrating assignments that day. That and I also really enjoy the youth program "Life Together" at church. Overall, I get to relax and enjoy myself for at least one day.

Once again, my life philosophy is to be the best person I can be, by being a calm, polite individual. Like everyone else, I'm not perfect and make mistakes, and am not always committed to this philosophy. Despite that, this is what makes me who I am.
